 | Hello From BodyShops toastmasters club!posted by web forum, Premium MembershipWednesday, December 2nd 2009 @ 10:26 AM |
My name is Mary. I am the VP Membership of a club called BodyShops (so called because it started in a hospital, everyone worked on bodies in one way or another). We meet in the Cherry Creek area of Denver, CO.
Our District (26) hosts a "Toastmaster Leadership Institute" twice a year. Officer Training takes place, in addition to free workshops. At the upcoming "TLI" I am organizing a workshop to discuss he objectives, etc. of the four main areas of speaking: Entertaining, Informational, Inspirational, and Persuasive. I feel very strongly that people need to be aware of the goal of a presentation. Too often, people really have no idea. This workshop corresponds to the tips on your website.
BodyShops is an extremely dynamic club, our membership is always above 22. There are two things I see our club do well. First, our officers are extrememly committed to every aspect of club functioning. We devote a great deal of time behind the scenes to every imaginable detail. Second, we have an extremely strong mentoring system. We make sure people are connected immediately, and often those connections form into very strong bonds. One to one relationships behind the scenes make a huge difference in membership retention and personal growth.
