David Jones from London has some answers to this question....From the moment you start your presentation, your listener could be thinking about the following questions: Is this presentation and message for me? Do I believe the person's message? Is the speaker on my side?
---
So lets take a look at what is critical here so that your audience is thinking YES, the presentation is good and is a useful message from somebody I can trust!
Q1 - Is this presentation and message for me?
Don't waste any time, get in with the key message by saying that this message for YOU!
The use of the word YOU in business presentations is vital; Consider the following message Your country needs you
versus This country needs soldiers.
Q2 - Do I believe the person's message?
Your personal credibility depends on the plausibility of your message and that you have all the right facts to back-up our message of your presentation. Before you set out to influence your audience you need to win their trust. Give them information they already know; suggest an opinion they already hold; express an emotion they already feel before moving on to the next stage of your message.
Q3 - Is the speaker on my side?
This is critical also!
Persuade the audience that you are one of them, or at least that you can see things from their point of view.
Express yourself in simple terms.
If possible, use a little of the audience's language to express a special point in your presentation.
