TV Toastmasters!!

posted by LSF Guest, Premium MembershipWednesday, February 17th 2010 @ 7:30 PM

We are one of just a handful of television clubs in Toastmasters International. Currently, they are all located in the United States, but I will be helping to form a club up in nearby Vancouver, B.C. Canada. I don't know anything about television in Ireland, but I would certainly be willing to help you guys explore that option if you should so choose. We meet monthly in a television studio and produce a one hour television program, TV Toastmasters Presents. Our members learn and practice all the functions both in front and in back of three studio cameras. I serve as both president for the club and the executive producer of our monthly program. Our crew roles include producer, director, VT4 operator (a computer and the brains of our control room) Our programs are digitally recorded on the VT4 and transferred to an edit bay at the end of each shoot. A switcher changes cameras and a camera operator operates all three of our robotic cameras from the control room. We also have people handling both the lights and audio. In the studio we have a floor manager who receives instructions from the director on what needs to be done there. Another person operates our teleprompter with all of our scripts. There are also stage hands to help the stage manager with his duties. As you can see our club is a bit different from the standard Toastmasters club. As most of our members are also dual members with traditional clubs and most of our concerns are about television rather than Toastmasters, I don't see how you might be able to help us. But, as I said at the beginning, I am willing to help you with television. I would also like to invite any members of your club who are out in this part of the world to come visit us and maybe even step before the cameras. Croi follain agus gob fliuch!
