How true! Two or three times a year I flee to the Regency Health Resort to rest, relax, and rejuvenate. In 2009, after 30 years of this routine, the light finally dawned: "It's not about living saintly 2-3 weeks a year; eating only healthy, organically grown, vegetarian diet, exercising and getting rest while at the Regency in Hallandale, FL, USA if I'm going to return to my old junk food eating habits at home." I realized that making just one small change at a time in my eating and activity at home the other 49 weeks of the year would make more permanent difference than just those 3 weeks at the Regency when I'm living my most stress-free life possible.
In April, 2009 my small change was to eat more fresh and raw foods. It's amazing how it works: putting more nourishing food into my body actually gives my body more nutrients and keeps hunger at bay.
I've also been serving more nutritious foods to my guests and they want the recipes for my Roasted Veggies and Black Bean Hummus roll-ups.
I say, don't try to lose weight: weight is not the problem, eating is! So learn to substitute just one nutrient rich, calorie poor delicious food for one of your calorie rich, nutrient poor delicious foods and watch your energy level change!!! Roasted Sweet Potato instead of Pringles Potato chips was one of my satisfying changes. Without trying to, I have dropped a dress size while eating enormous amounts of nutrient rich, nourishing foods.
My junk food intake is once in a while, instead of once in a while every day! At age 76 after a lifetime of preferring junk food, I'm not totally reformed yet.
