After all the block voting and "support thy neighbour" back scratching last weekend I would like to propose the contest be renamed. The name I have in mind is EESMAS short for Eastern Europe and Scandinavian Mutual Appreciation Societies.
As a follow up question, given the new voting reality, should Ireland continue to enter the EESMAS song contest? Or would the money be better spent elsewhere?

Hi Barry
Nice angle on this, thank you.
It is such a big event, Ireland must continue to hold the faith and go through the rounds again next year.
We need to bear in mind, that some countries have never won this event, so I guess Ireland does not have to feel that hard done by?

Hi Barry
Am I disappointed that Ireland failed to qualify for the European Song Contest? No. I'm delighted. It's a low quality, politicised musical contest. And the quality of of our entries many times has been low grade. We can't even make a final lately - never mind win one!!
What a waste of scarce financial resources! Not that it matters. Entering a worthwhile song sung by a worthwhile singer/group would be like throwing a diamond before swine - the judges wouldn't know the difference.
Anyway, who gives a damn about the Mickey Mouse contest in the midst of more pressing matters? We have an economic depression. Our Ballymagash politicians are jumping out of the woodwork on to poles and lamp posts for upcoming local and European elections. Their sole concern is to get tickets for the various gravy trains heading to your local station, to Leinster House and further afield to Brussells.
