I would recommend Stephen Covey's book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People as it touches on a very important topic known as "Circle of Influence".

The key point made is that we shoudl focus our time and energy on the important things that we can control and influence.

As a project manager you are working with team members that you can influence by making good decisions on the scope of work and of course the timeframes that bound the team(s) together.

A key challenge for project managers is to influence others to 'raise their' game to the extent that the project is successful through the collective efforts of the team.

This principal can be applied in every day experiences....do you have any interesting stories to share.

Hey Pernilla

I have just come across a quote that fits nicely on your topic:

"The most critical thing I think business leaders and future business leaders need to understand is to stay focused on the things that you can control and influence, and then execute, execute, execute."
